I would recommend Del Posto. It's owned by Mario Batali and Lydia Bastianich. The decor is rich and lovely, the food is elegant, not over complicated and delicious, the wine list is great and the staff is perfect. If you decide to go, call ahead as early as you can and try to reserve a table in one of the balconies that overlooks the restaurant's main dining floor. http://www.delposto.com/home.htm
New York is the land of excellent restaurants. I really don't know which restaurants have "stars" as I'm not a big one at following Michelin in the US.
What about Alain Ducasse's new place in the St. Regis?? It is so breathtaking, and your X will not forget her evening!!
If you can, have a cocktail first at the bar...you can actually touch the counter and different lists of drinks, wines, regions, falors will appear..it is amazing ...and who needs to same more about Alain Ducasse?
Forget Tavern on the Green. Too touristy and lousy food.
if you really want an excellent restaurant, go to John Georges at the Trump Hotel located at 1 Central Park West, near W. 60 Street. Or, Le Bernardin at 155 W. 51 St.
These are elegant places with outstanding service and food.
anyone know any good sledding spots in Chicago? ...why is this city so flat?
