
Karen Schmeer, celebrated documentary film editor, was mowed down by three robbers trying to flee from New York's finest.
"Fog of War", is an Academy Award winning documentary that Karen Schmeer worked on. "Fog of War" is about Robert McNamara, for US Secretary of Defense. For "Sergio," Karen Schmeer won a best editing honors at the 2009 Sudance Festival.
Karen Schmeer was less than away from her home when she was hit by a 2010 Dodge Avenger. The car was driven by three people who had just stolen drugs at a local CVS.
Karen Schmeer was pronounced dead on arrival. The fatal hit and run occured on Broadway, near W.90th St., just before 8 p.m. last night as the three were making to make a quick getaway. They had stolen the allergy medication, Zyrtec, from nearby CVS.
What a tragic accident and loss of a great talent. May Karen Schmeer rest in peace.
